What is M.E.R.C.A.A?
MERCAA is an acronym for: Middle East Regional Committee of Alcoholics Anonymous
What is the origin of MERCAA?
MERCAA was born at the 5th Arabian Gulf Regional Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous in 2005..
Why?
The committee was formed to try to establish a way to carry the message within the region by introducing a better translation for some of the current
literature into the Arabic Language.
How would this be accomplished?
By using the expertise and local knowledge of the language of current members of the fellowship within the region.
What is the organisational structure of the committee?
It was agreed that we should try to KEEP IT SIMPLE but at the same time to allow a structure that could be responsible to those we serve. The link
above provides an idea of where we are structurally but this can be changed. The secretary would welcome your input and suggestions. Please use the
feedback form provided.
Where do we go from here (as of today - 9th November 2009)?
A good question. One thing is certain, If we are serious about our intentions, then its time we got to doing something. Otherwise, we may as well as well
turn it in.
At the recent convention in Qatar, the MERCAA group conscience made some recommendations:
Amongst these recommendation was the idea of using future funds and those already accumulated to assist those organising workshops.
Another suggestion was regional telephone support.

Most importantly, please let me know of anything that you are not happy with about this page before I make it publicly accessible. Please make any
reasonable suggestions to improve what we have
