History of the Bahrain Groups
Alcoholics Anonymous (Bahrain) started in August of 1964 in an
apartment of a well-wisher
for AA called Mr. John Peter. They used to meet every 2 weeks.
The number of attendance
was 8 recovering alcoholics.
In 1970 they started a meeting in Arabic in Ibn Sina Hospital
with 4 Bahraini members. They
met once a week for 3 months and then the group collapsed.
AA meetings at the American Mission Hospital continued and
progressed from one to four English speaking meetings a week
and one Arabic speaking.
Additionally, three English speaking meetings a week are held
at the Sacred Heart Church.
Today in Bahrain, there is one AA English speaking meeting for
every day of the week.
